  • Hadley, I hear you on this. My PowerBook is getting heavier and heavier these days as I think about one of those small notebooks I could use. And thanks for doing the leg work on the research. In these hard times, a $300 notebook is not bad. I don't belong to the high money class that Apple markets to.

  • Hey, Chris, glad you contacted him because I had the same problem finding the iPhoto and Aperture libraries in Flickery. The developer needs to do a tutorial about that because it's really important.

  • Yeah, Flickery is a better option if you're a heavy Flickr user. If I used iPhoto on a regular basis I would use its Flickr export only for quick uploads. It's really sad that Apple dumb downs some features of it's applications because they think people can't eventually figure out how to use it. Or maybe they keep things simple so they can charge for upgrades later.

  • When you upload the first pic using the Flickr button, it makes an album in your iPhoto for you. It should appear at the bottom of the side panel. It works like the MobileMe galleries. Here's a screen shot of how it looks: http://snapplr.com/2sm0 Drop photos into the album and it should update on Flickr account.

  • Chris, you should be able to drop photos into an existing album/set created by iPhoto. I rechecked it and it works for me.

  • Flayboybob, I have to agree with you. The '09 version of iLife is really not a must have application. Apple should have at least included a new application in the mix or lowered the upgrade price.

  • Yeah, Chris, I was playing around with the adjustments today. I'm thinking about doing a piece on that topic. I still think iPhoto is a great program for the average consumer. It's just that the Faces program still needs some work.

  • Chris, it seems to take race or skin tone in consideration in my library. But again, the overall process is sometimes hit and miss. Here's another article that goes into more detail about it deals with facial detection and recognition.

  • Beeblerax, your don't really have to keyword photos individually. Faces will help with the process, but you can actually select several photos at a time and keyword them.

  • Hey, Chris, I remember those analog days with electronic typewriters and pen and paper (late '70s also). I never hand in a paper without typos and grammatical mistakes, so I really don't want to revisit those days. MacSpeech does take getting used to, and I think if you use it often, it could mean a productivity boost in your writing. But the key word is using it often and developing a workflow with it. That's not easy for a lot of people.

  • I definitely agree with much of what you say here, Chris. While Apple may hold out on the netbook until say next Summer, I think it would be very naive of them to ignore this market. As much as I need one or two pro level computers for the work I do, I simply don't want to shell out over $600 for a 13" MacBook or MacBook Air in order to word process, surf the web, and chat with some folks.

  • Yeah, I thought about the Finder becoming too bloated, but current features in the Finder hasn't in my few slowed it down. Basically it just needs to be remixed because the basic functionality for what I'm talking about pretty much already exist.

  • If I remember correctly, in the announcement of the iPhone G3, I don't remember a spokesman or woman speaking on behalf of AT&T;. If that's true, that may indicate something about their relationship.
