I think you need to rename this article. It comes off as you're blaming apple, hence all the flames.
You basically sound like its apple's fault for allowing this to happen. Yet you admit it was your own stupid mistake. I mean, you deleted a folder called 'usr' because you have a folder called 'Users' ?
Isnt that like saying... "I deleted REALLY_IMPORTANT_FILE_1 because I had a REALLY_IMPORTANT_FILE_2 and their names seemed so similar? Surely I didnt need both? Waaah I blame the OS vendor!!!"
I'm surprised you've even used a computer before to make a mistake like that.
Tell me about it. I pointed this out on another article. The writing on Apple Matters really does sound pedestrian at the best of times, and downright awful at others.
Why should the mac fratenrity bother to read a website whose authors clearly can't be bothered to pay even the slightest attention to the quality of their output?
"In fact, I don’t think its unreasonable to say that Jobs’ most innovative years are now behind him and that anything else he produces won’t have the same impact or response as his two most iconic creations, the iMac and the iPod."
Are you a moron? What you're essentially saying is "Because I cant think of anything Steve might come up with in the next couple years, i'm going to assume all his good ideas are over."
I have never met anyone who beleives either of the 'myths' you've come up with here. Who exactly are you trying to wow with this 'revelation'? That Apple's HIG were written by - gasp - Apple? Or that they only apply to - gasp - Apple's OS?
Get a grip.
Saying no-one has yet invented the perfect, one-size-fits-all language is an inherently flawed idea, on the grounds that there is no such thing.
Does your toolbox have just one tool in it? Do you own only one screwdriver? Or, in fact, do you have a multitude of tools, because *different situations require different tools*?
A programming language is just a tool. Each language has strength, weaknesses, benefits and drawbacks for each and every application you could possibly write. That is why there is not, and IMHO never will be a 'perfect language'.
A good programmer should master multiple tools, and choose the best one for each job.
hey #4:
"HalfLife2 is boring. Quake is boring. Doom is boring. Halo is boring. Gamers are degenerates."
What you mean to say is:
"I dont like games".
Fine, so DONT DUAL BOOT THEN. However, for *MANY* people, the ability to play the latest games is a huge boon. (Despite your generalisation that such people are all 'degenerates').
